It is not longer just based on when you check in. Now, they line up with letters and numbers. Business Select tickets get on first (they cost more); then frequent Southwest flyers, then everybody else. In my experience "everybody else" starts around A 50, but that's just an observation of one route I fly for work. YMMV.
